Q: I’m a beginner. Is this for me?
A: Yes! Some of our activities are open to beginners. Our clinics and recreational evenings are designed to help you progress at your own pace, with tailored explanations. Our intermediate and advanced leagues require solid mastery of the basics — see our Skill Level Reference Table to see where you fit.
Q: Do you have training programs?
A: Yes. We offer themed technical clinics (beginners, intermediate, advanced) led by qualified coaches. Topics are announced in advance and cover technical skills, tactics, and game reading. Full details are on our Clinics page.
Q: Do you offer programs for kids or teens?
A: No, our current activities are for adults (18+).
Q: When does registration open?
A: Dates vary depending on the activity.
  • Monday League: Early August and late November – team registration only. See the Selection Procedure.
  • Weekend League: Early August and late November.
  • Beach Volleyball League: Early May and early July.
  • Clinics: Packages and single-session registrations offered year-round.
  • Odyssée Tournament: Mid-December – register as a team or individually (recreational).
  • Pride Tournament: Late June / Early July.
  • Holiday Tournament: Late October / Early November.
Q: Why must I be affiliated with Volleyball Québec?
A: Affiliation with Volleyball Québec is mandatory to participate in our leagues and clinics. It provides sports insurance and several benefits. It is also required by the Act respecting safety in sports and recreational activities.
Q: I want to form a team and join the evenings. How do I proceed?
A: For the Monday League, register your team via our form before the deadline (see the Selection Procedure). If you don’t have a team, you can join our discussion group to find teammates: Messenger Group.
Q: When is the next tournament?
A: Dates are announced on our website and social media. We organize several themed tournaments each year.
Q: Where do you hold your activities?
A: Mainly at Collège Maisonneuve, ASCCS, and UQAM. The exact address is provided upon registration.
Q: How do Monday evenings work?
A: The Monday League is competitive (intermediate and advanced). Teams are set before the season. Each evening includes several matches according to the schedule, plus a season ranking leading to an end-of-season tournament. Rules are non-gendered and aligned with our inclusive mission.
Q: How do your beach volleyball evenings work?
A: Our summer evenings are open to individual registrations. They combine free play and friendly matches, in a social and inclusive atmosphere.
Q: How do you adapt activities for the LGBTQ+ community?
A: Volley Boréal is an LGBTQ+ and ally league. We guarantee an inclusive environment: non-gendered rules, team representation, and zero tolerance for any form of discrimination.
