MONDAY COMPETITIVE LEAGUE

- SUBSTITUTIONS -

Substitute Player Procedure

1. General Rules

All substitute players must:

  • Be affiliated with Volleyball Québec;
  • Have completed the online form.

Failure to comply with these requirements will result in penalties.

A team may always use:

  • players who are refereeing during the evening;
  • players from teams with more than 6 players present.

When absences reduce a team’s roster to 4 players or fewer, the team must use at least one external substitute player to ensure the evening runs smoothly and to maintain fairness between teams.

2. Important Reminder

  • Affiliation with Volleyball Québec is mandatory for anyone playing in the league, including occasional substitute players.
  • The online form is mandatory in all cases.

3. Minimum Number of Players – Consequences

  • A team that arrives with only 4 players without having arranged for a substitute may play the match, but it will be considered an exhibition match.
  • The score will not count toward the standings.
  • The official result will be recorded as 25–0 in favour of the opposing team.

If a player’s late arrival prevents the team from having the minimum of 5 players at the beginning of the first match, the same rule applies:

  • The match will be played as an exhibition match;
  • The score will not count toward the standings;
  • The official result will be recorded as 25–0.

4. Late Arrival – Automatic Forfeits

  • Being late for the first match automatically results in a forfeit of two matches within the pool, so that no team is placed at a disadvantage.
  • These two matches will be recorded as forfeited losses for the team at fault.
  • The official results of both matches will be recorded as 25–0.
  • The team may still play exhibition matches if the schedule and opposing teams allow it, but the official score will be recorded as 25–0, regardless of the actual result of the exhibition match.
