VOLLEY
BORÉAL is a Montreal volley-ball club, by and for
the GLBT community (gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered),
their hetero friends and everyone in between. The club is open
to all, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, age and race.
Discrimination is not tolerated.
The fusion of LAMBDA and LASCAR was made possible thanks
to the hard work of the Transitional Committee, two consultative
meetings and two special general assemblies. VOLLEY
BORÉAL,
the all-new, non-profit association, made its debute on September
22, 2004 and was legally formed on February 27, 2007.
From this moment on, the official name
of the organization was to be, VOLLEY

Volleyball
Lambda, a gay volley-ball club catering to competitives,
originally started it's actitivities in 1982 and from 1983, organized
the notorious annual Big Jump tournament, with the common support
of NAGVA (North American Gay Volleyball Association). This tournament
was popular with our American friends.
Lascar,
a gay volley-ball league oriented on participation and the social
facet, debuted it's activities in 1983 and from 1998, organized the
international ODYSSÉE tournaments (a reminder to us all of mythology
surrounding Ulysse).
VOLLEY
BORÉAL offers evenings of sport and training to both
women and men, ranging from beginners to intermiated to advanced
levels. More than 200 members regularly participate in this club
every Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, including week-ends, and
during the many tournaments taking place in Montreal, Ottawa, Québec
City, Toronto, Paris and elsewhere in the world!
VOLLEY
BORÉAL organizes the annual BIG
JUMP tournament every Thanksgiving week-end, the BONNE
FÊTE tournament during the 2nd week-end
of Decembre,
the ODYSSÉE tournament
every Easter week-end and last but not least, two annual outtings
at the St-Zotique beach.
Also, a fund-raiser for the Association
de l’acidose
lactique is held at the end of every year (December) in honor
of our precious, supportive little angel, Maika Gravel.
Next on VOLLEY BORÉAL's ambitious to-do
list is to round up as many athletes as possible to the 2nd World
Outgames in Copenhague 2009!
VOLLEY
BORÉAL is a member of Équipe Montréal
and of GLISA (Gay and Lesbian International Sport Association)
